Illustrating and writing books for children is one of the most fun jobs around. It keeps one young and rewards unconventional thought processes. I bring the highly textured surfaces of my prints and drawings into my illustration work. Pages will typically start with a pencil drawing. This is often augmented with watercolour paint. The drawing is then scanned. Once digitalised I use Photoshop to add layers of scanned or photographed surfaces. If you look carefully you can sometimes recognise familiar objects and surfaces integrated into the images.
